These sessions allow Mums (or Dads) to bond with their babies who have special needs, in a gentle, comfortable environment, using soothing sounds and movements to strengthen those bonds. It is also a fabulous way for Mums (or Dads) to foster friendships and strong support networks with other parents in the same situation. You all understand the challenges, so it's a healthy way to share ideas, make new friends and build your support networks, whether you're a first time parent, or a seasoned parent who is finding themselves in a position which may be challenging.  
 

A fun filled session where we use music, movement and games to encourage toddlers to discover different instruments, learn songs, add movement and generally have a great time with all things musical.

Another fun filled session where your young ones can enjoy Music, Movement and games in a fun filled session.  I use a variety of percussion instruments, singing and games to keep the classes very hands on and enjoyable for your child.

These action packed classes are suitable for children from Pre Primary through to Year 6.  They learn how to read and understand the timing of music notes (yes, even pre-primary students can do this with ease), use both tuned and untuned instruments to follow along with some great interactive songs and games and generally "crack the code" of reading and understanding how music works or just to enjoy taking part in each class.

Music Exploration classes for high school aged children include learning to play tuned instruments like Boomwhackers, desk bells, glockenspeils and a host of other untuned percussion instruments. We do rhythm circles, learn songs to sing, play age appropriate games and generally explore Music in a comfortable, bright and fun environment.

We all love to sing....whether it's in the bathroom (let's face it, we all love singing in the bathroom as the acoustics make everyone sound better), by ourselves or, in this case, in a Singing group. This group is aimed at adults living in Group Homes, giving them a great recreational pursuit and get out of the house and meet new friends. It isn't limited to just those living in group accommodation, any adult with a disability is welcome to join in and become a Singing Group member. Performances will be held at the end of each term so that family and friends can come along and see the great work you've done and there will also be opportunities to perform at different Fairs and Outings in public, where you can really shine. These classes would be held during the early evening, giving people a chance to get home from work, have dinner then come out for a night of singing and fun.

As the only sibling to an older sister who has cerebral palsy and is deaf, has given me a lifetime of experience, about what it is like living with a sibling with disabilities. We feel protective of our sibling and most of the time very positive about our family situation. However there is another side of being a sibling. (There's a great book called "Being the Other One", by Kate Strohm, which I will stock for sale to parents, which gives this perspective a real voice).  As siblings, we sometimes have feelings of resentment, jealousy, anger and guilt over having these feelings. Siblings don't feel that they can talk to Mum or Dad about it because they can feel that Mum and dad already have enough on their plates to deal with.  That's where Drumbeat comes in and can help immensely. Drumbeat is a 10 week course where siblings learn how to play African drums called Djembe's. Each week we use our drums to "talk" in the beginning, until each member of the 10 person group feels comfortable enough to use their voices to discuss various topics. Each week there is a counselling aspect discussed about what to do about these feelings, good and bad ways to deal with them and tips that siblings can put into their "toolkit" to help them become the best sibling they can be, while also caring for their own mental health. This course is suitable for siblings aged 10 and up.
